Travelling to the Emirates has never been easier. Flying time is approximately 6 hours and 35 minutes while the fact that local time in the UAE is GMT plus 4 mean that your time of arrival will be around 10 and a half hours later than take off time. UK passport holders are exempt from any visa requirements for the duration of 1 month so arduous visits to embassies are not necessary. Emirates, Qatar Airways, Gulf Air and British Airways all fly to Dubai International using either Boeing 777s or the Airbus A330. Emirates fly daily from Heathrow, Gatwick, Manchester, Birmingham and Glasgow and return from Dubai to these airports once a day as well. Qatar Airways fly from Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester but all these flights are via the Qatari capital of Doha. BA flies daily to Dubai international but this is only from Heathrow; Gulf Air also offers this service. In the case of Abu Dhabi; British airways and Gulf Air both operate outward and inbound daily from Heathrow while Qatar Airways journey from Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester via Doha. The Heathrow and Gatwick flights return daily but the Manchester flights operate outbound on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays but inbound on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Upgrades are available on all flights but are limited in number.
Independent flights
If booking flights separately to the rest of the holiday, customers must be aware of the fact that prices for flights are often dictated by demand. If a certain route is frequented daily, it is bound to be more expensive. However, if there were fewer takers for a different route, a cheaper flight would be available. This also means that flight rates fluctuate all the time. So watch out! You would not be getting the same cheap flight throughout the year! The other factor deciding whether you board a cheap flight or not, is competition. Companies cannot afford to stay behind their competitors. Most smart consumers today compare the fares for different airlines before deciding on one. Chances are that if X airline is offering you a cheap flight, Y too offers a similar deal. In such a case, compare the facilities, boarding time etc.
Never assume that you can find a cheap flight on a few hours' notice. It is important to plan well in advance. Most airlines give you an additional discount if you reserve your ticket a few weeks in advance. However, if you are going for a business appointment on an unfixed date, make sure you check out the airline's change/cancellation policy.
The internet is another great way of finding cheap flights. To find the best rates it is important to book well in advance or, alternatively, at the last minute. Flights on weekends are often the cheapest. Package deals may, however, be less difficult to book and organise. Connecting flights are also cheaper than direct ones but will take longer. Take advantage of the links above to find a great deal on flights to the exotic Emirates.
